FabLab at Plymouth University has recently undergone a significant upgrade. The facility boasts a vast array of equipment available for designers and artists, coupled with a wealth of knowledge on emerging technologies. They have granted Anne exclusive access to the FabLab on a trial basis before extending open access more broadly to other artists.
Each crystal will now be precision cut using CNC technology. This method ensures a much cleaner edge, as the crystals will fold in on themselves with the aid of a specialist tool bit. This tool allows for 45-degree edges, resulting in a clean and sleek outline.
The mirrored lighthouse will be adorned with tiles also made from acrylic, which will be cut using a laser cutter. The design features larger tiles at the base and progressively smaller ones towards the top, creating an optical illusion that enhances its perceived height.
