'Where the sky breaks' Immersive Light, Sound & Environmental Installation

Where the Sky Breaks is a large outdoor light artwork inspired by images of the Earth’s ozone layer. A glowing circular form is suspended in the air and slowly “breathes”, gently brightening and fading. At its centre, a dark opening appears and closes, but never fully disappears.
The work is about the sky as a fragile layer that protects life on Earth. When this protection is damaged, the change is not always easy to see, but it can have serious effects. The artwork shows both damage and healing happening at the same time.
As people walk beneath the light, they are invited to look up and think about the space above us that we often take for granted. The slow movement of the light reflects the long timescales of the planet, reminding us that care and shared action can make a difference.
Where the Sky Breaks is a quiet reflection on vulnerability, responsibility, and hope.
