MAKING THE (IN)VISIBLE

BUTTERFLY DREAM (close up 1).jpg

Anne Bennett is an award-winning artist based in South Devon. Her art has been exhibited at prestigious events such as the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, where she shared the spotlight with renowned artists like David Remfry and Tracey Emin. In 2022, her thought-provoking installations captivated audiences as they toured seven cities in the UK and abroad. Anne's artistic vision is centred around reconnecting people with the beauty of nature and showcasing the captivating forms found in flora and wildlife. She seeks to transcend traditional gallery spaces, bringing contemporary art into the open and igniting discussions about climate change and the rediscovery of community heritage. Through her creations, Anne aims to make the invisible visible, prompting viewers to engage in dialogue and fostering a deeper connection with our environment. It is this powerful approach that caught the attention of a prestigious client from Hudson Yards, Manhattan, NYC, in April 2024. This client handpicked a select group of contemporary artists to design, create, and install an artwork for the Summer of 2024. Anne was honoured to be among the chosen few, having impressed an art advisor who travelled across the Atlantic to personally view her piece, 'Butterfly Dream,' exhibited at the Aberdeen Art Gallery in February 2024. After a rigorous selection process, Anne's design made it to the final shortlist of just three artworks. She was thrilled with this achievement and eagerly anticipates the possibility of collaborating with Hudson Yards in the near future.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“The natural world is full of often overlooked or forgotten beauty. Through my artwork, I aim to draw attention to the textures and beautiful shapes found in Flora & Wildlife. I want the sculptures I create to remind people of the vast beauty of nature and to reconnect with their own surroundings. Only we as humans can question our own attitudes and behaviour towards the natural environment.”  2021
